Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Moravian Palaeozoic, Devonian and Lower Carboniferous. Large active quarry with supplied cement factory by quality limestone. In this quarry substantial stratigraphic and facial studies were carried out. Also stratigraphic boundaries between main units were fixed there, mainly between the Macocha and Líšeň formations. Overlying greywackes and conglomerates of the Lower Carboniferous Myslejovice Formation are also exposed. So, at this locality transitions from reefal limestones through bioclastic varieties up to calciturbidite and terrigenous flysch facies can be observed there. This locality is recommended for protection.
