Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Abandoned quarry exposing upper parts of the Teplice Formation. They are formed by medium- up to coarse grained quartzose sandstones, quarried for building and aggregate production purposes. These quadersandstones are underlain by finer grained clayey and silty sandstones. In the topmost parts of the quarry section so called "red layer" occurs which separates the Teplice Formation from the overlying Březno Formation. The whole Cretaceous sequence is covered by Quaternary loess.
