Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. On steep canyon walls so called Hrubá skála quartzose sandstones are exposed. Lower part of this section shows current bedded sandstones, upper one yellowish graded sandstone layers. Also stratigraphically important "red horizon"can be seen. Cretaceous sandstones are covered by Quaternary loesses with some gravel on their base. The locality is situated in the Geopark and Protected Landscape Area Český ráj - the Bohemian Paradise.
