Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Abandoned pit quarry exploiting Cenomanian sandstones (Peruc-Korycany Formation). The quarry wall is as high as 20 m. The sandstones are mostly fine grained with distinct bedding, exceptionally gravel layers and lenses can be observed. The bed sets are several of dozens of centimetres thick. The sandstones are mostly greyish-whitish with some rusty nests and horizons. A vicinity of the Lužice tectonic zone is responsible for some tectonic features.
