Short characteristics of the site:
A group of abandoned quarries between Chuchelna and Na Rovné. The quarries expose columnar jointing of basanite lava. Cooling of the lava from its top and also from its bottom produced upper and lower colonade of columns. The presence of two columnar systems led former authors to map here two lava flows. Hyaloklastite sandstone can be found at the base of the lava. In one of these quarries, a root-less crater can be found as a result of interaction between hot lava and cool water. Mantle peridotites occur frequently as xenoliths in the lava.
