Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Natural outcrops and small abandoned quarries. Exposures of subarkoses and arkoses with interlayers of conglomerate. This sequence lies on the Carboniferous conglomerates of the Ratibořice Carboniferous. Stratigraphically they correspond to the Žaltman Arkose (Stephanian A). Sedimentologically significant locality.Outcrops in the Úpa River valley. Quaternary (Holocene) calcareous sinter max. 3 m thick, forming cascades with a small waterfall.
