Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The Permocarboniferous of the Krkonoše Piedmont and Inner Sudetian basins. The Úpa River valley exposes a set of Cretaceous and Permocarboniferous sediments and occassionally with their basement. Prevailing Permian sediments consist of conglomerates, underlying Carboniferous deposits are mainly fine grained. The Cretaceous and Permocarboniferous sediments are covered by Pleistocene fluvial gravel Local travertine occurrence is also interesting.
