Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The abandoned quarry near Městečko settlement close to the Křivoklát Castle. The body of fine grained pinkish rhyolite is exposed. At its margins this massive rock passes to breccia. The rhyolite is silicified and its matrix consists of a mixture of fine quartz and feldspar (both potassium feldspar and plagioklase). This subvolcanic rock transects discordantly a series of slightly metamorphosed Neoproterozoic sediments.
