Geology

Short characteristics of the site: A pit extracting Carboniferous refractory clays with a section of the Kladno Formation (Westphalian C+D). The overlying Cretaceous sediments of the Peruc-Korycany Formation and the Bílá hora Formation reveal spatial relationships among sedimentary units of the continental-to-marine transition. The Pecínov Member was defined at this site by Uličný and Špičáková (1996).Bohemian Permocarboniferousand Cretaceous. Active quarry exposing two important stratigraphical boundary beds: l) Between Cretaceous Cenomanian and Turonian, 2) between Permocarboniferous Nýřany and Radnice beds. Cretaceous boundary beds documents a boundary between terrestric and marine sedimentation.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif > Upper Carboniferous and Permian > Central and Western Bohemian Late Palaeozoicum > Kladno - Rakovník Basin > Rakovník mining discrit;
