Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The Rakovník City, rock section at the local swimming pool. The locality is formed by a set of outcrops belonging geologically to the Barrandian Proterozoic. The sediments, i.e. clayey schists, are of the Neoproterozoic age, they are intensively folded and contain some greywacke layers and secretional quartz lenses. The section is cut by two fault zones acompanied by vein occurrences consisting of microgranodiorite. This rock is composed of secondary amphibole, plagioclases and quartz. This type is typical for Neoproterozoic vein rocks.
