Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Active sandpit with 100 m broad and 8-10 m high mining wall. Coarse grained sands with variety of clasts prevails. Interlayers of pebbly sand and gravel show typical planar, channel and oblique bedding. It is supposed that sedimentary environment can be characterized as braided stream and/or outflow fans of former Jizera (Iser) River. Sands and gravels are of Middle Pleistocene age.
