Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The composed section at the northern slope of Soláň hill is the type locality of the Soláň Formation (Rača Unit). The section consists of isolated outcrops in the stream and outcrops along the ski trail. Two facies can be distinguished here within the Soláň Formation: thick-rhythmic biotite sandstone flysch and fine-rhythmic flysch with prevailing claystones. The horizons of variegated claystones were locally observed.
