Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
A 100 m long and 10 m high outcrop at Bílý Újezd, on the left bank of the Zlatý potok Stream. Proterozoic phyllites of the Nové Město Group are overlain by laterites to bauxites 1-2 m thick with an old gallery after iron-ore mining dating to 1850s. Laterites are transgressed by Cretaceous sediments: Cenomanian claystones with plant debris, conglomerates and sandstones passing upwards to marlstones with belemnites, brachipods and bivalves, and finally dark siltstones with fragments of brachipod shells (Peruc-Korycany Formation). The topmost part is formed by Lower Turonian marlstones of the Bílá hora Formation.
