Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
A sand pit SE of Sokolov in the Tertiary Sokolov Basin. It exposes sediments of the Upper Eocene Staré Sedlo Formation in a strip 1.5 km long: sands, gravels, sandstone, conglomerates and clays. An important site of fossil flora and a good site for a sedimentological study. The locality is protected as a National Nature Monument.
