Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The quarry represents one of the highest sites (450 m a.s.l.) of the surf facies of Lower Badenian, Miocene in the Moravian Karst. Conglomerates and breccia are composed of local material (Culmian silty shale, limestone),abundant traces of boring activities, macrofauna of Molluscs. The cavities filled with Badenian sediments are eroded in Upper Devonian thick bedded limestone of the Macocha formation. This locality is a part of the Protected Landscape Area Moravský kras - the Moravian Karst.
