Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Flood plain of a riverlet Hvozdnice with surrounding small quarries. The outcrops expose flysh-like sequence of the Kulm age. Clayey shales and siltstone prevail over fine grained greywackes. In the river channel, rocky basement is overlain by Pleistocene fluvial gravel. This is covered by glacial tillites of the Saal Moraine. They consist of mud deposits with numerous exotic drifted blocks. Loess also occurs together with Holocene slope talus. This locality is classified as a Nature Reserve.
