Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
The Šipka Cave is situated on the northern slope of the Kotouč Hill in Štramberk. The cave is famous by discovery of the jaw-bone of a Neanderthal men in 1880. The cave is result of carstification of the Upper Jurassic-Lower Cretaceous Štramberk Limestone deposited within Mesozoic coral-reef complex. The locality is classified as National Nature Monument.
