Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Quaternary, areas of continental glaciation. The second largest, but longest erratic boulder in the Czech Republic. It was found within fluvioglacial sands in a brook bed in the Poruba City, now it is placed on a pedestal nearby. It consists of a coarse grained porphyric granite (granitoid) with potessium feldspar phenocrysts as large as 1 - 2 cm, common rock forming minerals and numerous blackish aggregates of dark minerals. This erratic boulder comes from the Baltic Shield.
