Short characteristics of the site:
This locality represents a Quaternary volcanic activity in the Bohemian. Old abandoned quarry exposes part of the volcaniclastic series. The pyroclastic rocks represent a poduct of explosive aktivity of surrounding stratovolcanoes. The tuffs are ill-sorted and contain numerous fragments of Culm sediments and basanites. Thickness of the tuff sequence is about 12 metres. This rock was used for building and constructional processes, but also as decoration purpose. It can be found for instance in the arcades of a baroque castle in Bruntál Town
