Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Moldanubicum, metamorphic units, Šumava Mts. Distinct elevation with a Kašperk Castle on its summit. Leptynite ridge, several dozens of metres thick and several kilometers long. This rock is fine grained and massive, contains quartz, potassium feldspar, plagioclase, hornblende, pyroxene and some garnet. Origin of leptynite is not yet solved, possibly it represents a product of metamorphosis of acidic pyroclastic rocks.
