Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
South Bohemian basins, Cretaceous. Underground caverns in a deposit of kaolinitic sandstones. Sandstones contain interlayers of claystones and some conglomerate lenses.They belong to the upper parts of the Klikov Formation (Upper Cretaceous). Bedrock consists of biotitic and sillimanite-biotitic paragneiss with its contact with leucocratic migmatite. Technical mining workings are protected there, specially horizontal galleries within kaolinitic sandstones.
