Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Sand pit with glacifluvial sands and gravels. Their thickness attains 15 m. Two main lithologic types are present, first one with trough cross bedded sands and gravels with clasts of nordic rock, second one with horizontally bedded sands. The sequence represents deposition in a broad proglacial sandr-type environnment, where sediments were deposited from meltweaters near the glacier front. Stratigraphically, this sequence was deposited during the Elsterian Glaciation.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif > Quaternary > Quaternary of deposition areas of Bohemian Massif > Quaternary of continental glaciation - Bohemian Massif
Stratigraphy: Quaternary
Subject: petrology, sedimentology, stratigraphy
Geological phenomenon: bedding, erratics
Genesis: glacigenic (glacier activity), aquatic (water activity)
Rock: sand, gravel
