Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
An exposure after exploitation of a large pegmatite body at Smolné Pece, Karlovy Vary area. Pegmatites belong to the Nejdek massif and are hosted by biotite granites. The exposed body consists of an aplitic outer zone and a central zone of quartz and K-feldspar. It contains large tourmaline crystals. The only pegmatite outcrop in the western Krušné hory Mts.
