Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Carpathians, Outer Group of Nappes. Old abandoned quarry showing flyschoid development of the Ždánice Unit. Among sediments calcareous sandstones prevail. Their lower parts are laminated, in their upper parts ripple marks can be found. Also silty and clayey layers occur. In lowermost parts scattered pebbles are present Foraminiferal fauna was studied. Depositional environment corresponds to the upper bathyal zone.
