Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Carpathian Foredeep, Neogene. Abandoned quarry exhibiting basement rock association covered by a Neogene sequence. Among basement rocks amphibolite and hornblende gneiss prevails. Also pyroxene-garnet skarns and crystalline limestones are present. Neogene sediments consist of thin layers of sandy clays, sands and clays with coalified flora.
