Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
South Bohemian basins, Cretaceous. Sand pit exposing mostly coarse grained kaolinitic sandstones with some interlayers of finer grained sandstones and conglomerates. Diagonal and even cross bedding are distinct. Sandstones belong to the upper part of the Klikov Formation with local thickness of 50 m. Underlying bedrock consists of biotitic paragneiss. Sandstoners are of fluvial origin.
