Short characteristics of the site:
Active quarry exposing orthogneiss as one of the main rock types of the Proterozoic complex of the crystalline rocks. It is situated near the contact with Early Paleozoic complex. The two complexes were metamophosed during younger phases of the Caledonian orogeny. Tectonically and petrologically important locality.
