Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Quartz porphyrites (partly in form of ignimbrites) and melaphyres form a part of a Permocarbonifeous volcanic complex. Melaphyres have amygdaloid texture and yielded numerous gemstones and special minerals, as agate, amethyst, analcite, apophylite, chalcedony, fluorite and many others. Significant mineralogical and petrological locality. Well known quarry on the Kozákov Hill (see "Votrubcův lom" ID 1457).
