Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Active landslide Vaculov – Sedlo is complex slope failure on the area of 2.5 km2, with removed volume about 123 millions m3. The rockground is built of Eocene Beloveža Formation (Rača Unit of the Magura Group of Nappes). The main body of the landslide represents the block slide 40 to 70 m thick. Gravity movements formed or predisposed variety of features like frontal folds, landslide lakes, pseudokarst forms, rockfalls, growth response of trees etc. The landslide is important open-air laboratory for geotechnical study and monitoring. This locality is situated in the Protected Landscape Area Beskydy.
