Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Active guarry with outcrops of Triassic sediments overlain by Cretaceous sediments. Triassic is classified as the Bohdašín Formation, formed of whitish kaolinitic quartzose sandstones of lacustrine origin. Well preserved sedimentary textures as raindrop imprints, mud cracks and ripple marks. Cretaceous sediments belong to the Korycany Member of the Peruc - Korycany Formation (Cenomanian).
