Short characteristics of the site:
Natural and artificial outcrop. Most important paleontological locality in this area. Complex association of fauna and flora, well known finds of insect, fish and amphibians. Oldest known flora of this volcanically influenced basin. Oligocene diatomite represents a nonvolcanic phase of the basin development.
