Geology
Short characteristics of the site:
Abandoned quarries where hornblendite rock was formerly exploited, mainly for decoration purposes. This rock consists of hornblende, pyroxene, accessoric plagioclase and ore minerals. Olivine is also abundant, forming grains as large as 1-3 mm. Due to local increase of plagioclase content olivinic hornblende passes to the amphibolitic gabbro.
