Geology
Short characteristics of the site: This locality is called "Babí skála - the Old Woman´Rock" and belongs geologically to the Barrandian Neoproterozoic. The rock forms a ridge which is separated by erosion into several cliffs. This rock is formed of silicites with about 98 per cent of silica. A layering can be observed as well as a local brecciated structure. The rock surface is locally covered with limonite patches and films. An admixture of disseminated organic matter caused a deep grey, even black colour of rock. The origin of these silicites is still doubtful.
