Geology
Short characteristics of the site: An outcrop of Tertiary nephelinite on Jelení hora Hill at Kryštofovy Hamry near Klášterec n.O. The rock is porphyritic, disintegrating into irregular six-sided columns, and probably represents a relict of a surface effusion in the proximity of a conduit. A dyke of the same rock is exposed 300 m to the NW. Blocks of volcanic rock redeposited by solifluction form boulder seas on hillslopes.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Tertiary - Dispersed Alcalic volcanits
Stratigraphy: kenozoikum - terciér (paleogén - neogén)
Subject: petrology, geomorphology, volcanology
Geological phenomenon: vulcano, stony organ
Genesis: volcanic
Rock: foidite
