Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Active quarry where a porcelanite is exploited. This porcelanite was formed by a spontaneous ignition of a coal seam and caustic metamorphosis of clays. Their thickness if 25 metres. This is the only locality where porcelanite is exploited. Petrologically significant site.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - superficial deposits and post-Variscian magmatites - Tertiary - Basins under Krušné hory Mts.and adjoining volcanic uplands
Stratigraphy: kenozoikum - terciér (paleogén - neogén)
