Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Abandoned quarry in paragneisses and migmatites of the Malín Series of the Kutná Hora Crystalline. Lenses of quartzitic erlanes. Well known collecting locality of large almandite crystals. Interesting selective erosion of quarry face. Cretaceous marine abrasion formed a relief, its depressions were filled with Cretaceous bioclastic limestones with rich fauna. Lower Turonian age was inferred.
