Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Karst cave almost completely filled by Quaternary sediments. Artificial corridors were dug through these sediments which expose in unique way the achitecture of the whole sediment fill. Calcareous tufa veneer on gravelly sediments exhibit a polar magnetic orientation which means that the sediment age is greater than Lower/Middle Pleitocene. Unique locality. Provenance study proved northern source of sands (Protivanov formation of the Drahany Culmian).
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Moravosilesian region - Moravosilesian Palaeozoicum, Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Moravosilesian region - Moravosilesian Palaeozoicum
Stratigraphy: paleozoikum - devon, kenozoikum - kvartér - pleistocén
Subject: stratigraphy, sedimentology, petrology
Geological phenomenon: karst cave, bed
Genesis: anthropogenic (anthropogenic activity), sedimentary, aquatic (water activity)
Rock: sand, limestone

Territorial conservation

Level of protection: Nature reserve in Protected landscape area
Additional information: See the Digital register of the Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic AOPK ČR
Protection of a geol. phenomenon: A - Protected Area (geology is important aspect of Biological declared Locality )
Part of LEPA (Large-size especially protected areas): CHKO (Protected landscape area) - Moravský kras
Conflicts of interests: others human activity
