Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Small abandoned quarries with outcrops of whitish limestones with dark cherts. According to the fossils these limestones are of Lower Cretaceous (Berriasian) age. This site represents a nappe remnant (tectonic slice) of the Rača Nappe situated off the nappe body within the Silesian Unit. Significant locality from stratigraphic and tectonic point of view.
