Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Active quarry in a Velké Vrbno Dome, in the so called Velké Vrbno graphite Zone. Broad spectrum of metamophic rocks crops out, as biotitic quartzite, garnet-bearing phyllite and carbonate rocks. Thickness of graphite layers is variable, usually between 200 and 300 cm. The only exploited graphite deposit in Moravia.
