Geology

Short characteristics of the site: Natural outcrops and also old quarrying activity. Exposures of the Ordovician quartzite, tectonically deformed and affected by a metamorphosis. Locality is near the contact between quartzites and Devonian limestones. The contact is tectonic, possibly represents a gentle overthrust. Tectonically important locality.
Regional geologic unit: Bohemian Massif - crystalline complex and pre-Variscian Palaeozoic - Lugicum - Krkonoše-Jizerské hory Mts.crystalline complex
