Short characteristics of the site: Large active quarry exposing a body of phonolite. This body has a character of lacolith which was emplaced during Tertiary (Lower Oligocene) into a complex of metamorphosed Upper Proterozoic rocks and unmetamorphosed Cretaceous sediments. Petrologically and tectonically significant locality.
