Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Odra rivercut in Bernartice upon Odra exposes claystones of the Hradiště Formation (Silesian Unit, Carpathian Flysch Belt). Black claystones and plate siltstones with coatings of limonite and jarosite contain rare concretions of pelosiderite with a cone-in-cone structure and a rare sandstone beds. An overturned shear fold is described by Havíř et al. (2008). Claystones contain agglutinated foraminifera and radiolaria of wider stratigraphic distribution within the Lower Cretaceous. A rare find of the ammonite Deshayesites sp. proved lower Aptian age (Kletenský 2014).
