Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Sediments exposed along a Bečva River shore. Basal part of an old flood plain consists of medium grained gravel. Pebbles of Paleogene sandstones, siltstones and some fine grained conglomerates are present. Gravel is covered by muddy sediments, mainly rusty clays rich in organic matter. They are supposed to represent a channel fill. Pollen analysis of clayey sediments was carried out and concluded that these layers correspond to periods of climatic optimum. The locality is situated in the Upper Moravian Vale (Neogene age).
