Geology
Short characteristics of the site: The active gravel pit where sand with gravel are exploited. The total thickness of eploited materials is 22 metres. The sediments are of fluvial origin. They occur on a place where gravel transported by Svratka, Dyje and Jihlava has been deposited. Pebble and heavy mineral analyses bear an evidence for source area (provenance) of this clastic material. It comes from both Moldanubicum and Moravicum Zones. The deposits are of Mud Pleistocene and Lower Pleistocene ages. Large blocks (up to one metre across) on the base of a section occur and their occurrence and way of transportation are not yet clarified. The gravel and sand reserves are sufficient for buildng purposes. The locality belongs to the Neogene of the Carpathian Foredeep.
