Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality is represented by large two-level active quarry where Permian olivine basalt passing into basaltic andesirte (melaphyre) are exploited. The outcrops demonstrate different types of Permian volcanic activity. Massive lavas are present together with pyroclastic rocks. Some lava flows exhibit pillow-lava structures. Also interesting mineralization along fissures can be observed, with Cu, Ag and Hg minerals. Copper minerals are rerpresented mainly by malachite and azurite. Moreover, agates, jaspers and multiclour quartz crysrtals can be found. This locality belongs to Lower Lusatian and Krkonoše piedmont basin.
