Geology
Short characteristics of the site: Natural outcrop on the left bank of the Žirovnice River. In this outcrop the sillimanite-biotite migmatite prevails passing into leucocratic sillimanite-biotite mnigmatite. This rock type is typical for the Monotonous Group of the Bohemian Moldanubicum. Thin layers of leucosome appear within the migmatite. It contains quartz , potassium feldspar, plagioklase and biotite. The leucosome alternates with so called melanosom which contains biotite, púlagioclase and quartz. Metamorphic foliation planes are folded. This locality belongs to the Moldanubicum of the Šumava Mts. and South Bohemia.
