Geology

Short characteristics of the site: The underground space of Žlutice Town. This space underlying main town square is of historical importance. The space has been excavated in two mica-shist, which is often banded and contains lenses of secretional quartz. This rock consists of quartz, oligoklase, biotite, muscovite and garnet associated with accesoric ilmenite, apatite anxd zircon. The described rock is called the Žlutice mica-shist and belongs to the Teplá Crystalline Complex.
