Geology
Short characteristics of the site: The active clay pit. This pit workings have several levels and during rain periods its lowermost part is flooded. The bluegreyish massive silty clay is exploited with some gypsum of secondary origin. Described clays are covered by 1,0 -2,5 m thick layer of sands and gravelly sands of Pleistocene age. All this is covered by a loess coating. There is a long list of the Lower Badenian fauna which evidences deep sea depositional environment. The locality belongs to the southern part of the Carpathian Foredeep.
