Geology
Short characteristics of the site: The old abandoned quarry. So called CHvaletice granite (of Proterozoic age) was exploited there. The granite is fine grained and two-mica type. This granite is disintegrated into blocks. Some blocks represent relics of quarrying, The granite was used for pavement construction and also for regulation of the Labe (the Elbe River). In some cases this granite served as a decoration materiál, for instance for the bank in Kutná Hora city. This locality belongs to the National Geopark "Železné hory - the Iron Mts."
