Geology

Short characteristics of the site: This locality is situated at the northern margin of the Nasavrky Pluton which is rimmed by the Lukavice Series. Local rocks are of subvolcanic origin but have been placed to the nearsurface environment. Their final form corresponds to porphyries, porphyroids, metarhyodacites and sericitic schists. Hydrothermal processes affected the rock pyritization This pyrite was exploited already in the 17th century and used for a production of the sulphruric acid. This mining was stopped on the beginning of the 20th century, but later so called Bartolomeo Gallery was opened. This locality belongs to the National Geopark.
